2017 Lake Angels

Lake Angels
Lake Angels are individuals who offer to help as you are paddling by - they are kind, generous, giving individuals who expect nothing in return. I was blessed by many Lake Angels.

Thank You to my Sister and Brother-in-law...
for dropping everything on a moments notice...
for taking a month off from your busy lives...
to drive to Michigan in the dead of winter...
battling bitterly cold temperatures...

Future Kayaker!
Everywhere I pulled off of the water, if there were children around, I always allowed them to play on my boat.

I think its important to encourage future generations!
Paddling with Steve Bianco
Steve was a stranger who wanted to paddle with me ..

He also offered to allow me and my support driver, Bill Noble, to stay a night with him so we could take a hot shower and sleep in a warm bed -

He quickly became a good friend and is now one of my 2020 Team Members.

"Thank You"
Scott Edwards
for driving 1,100 miles in order to paddle with me in the dark.
Your love gave me what I needed to keep going.

Paddling with Scott Edwards
on Lake Huron
Scott was my project manager for Just Around The Pointe.

In October, after being caught in a terrible storm while trying to paddle around Tobermory in the dark, I confided in him that I was now afraid to paddle at night.

It was more than just fear. I felt like I was broken inside. I tried to explain this to other members of my team, but no one seemed to understand the severe symptoms and uncontrollable thoughts that I was experiencing. I feared that I would not be able to finish the expedition.

Scott listened to my fears. He understood that I was experiencing some kind of Post Tramatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and he drove 1,100 miles to paddle with me in the dark and to show me that there was nothing to fear.

I will forever be in his debt.
